Great opportunities, great solutions

Myanmar, Burma, Birmany. Call it the way you want. I prefer the Golden Land.

I had the great opportunity to spend my summer internship working for IDE-M, a non-governmental organization dedicated to provide solutions to fight poverty in rural areas. In the picture, you can observe the treadle pump placed in to some of the most economically challenged areas of the Golden land, and of the world.

My main objective during my work at IDE-M was to understand and evaluate the socio-economic impact of the operations of the organization by providing market access of rural farmers to the treadle pump. The results were quite impressive. An average family using this technology would increase their income from 150 USD per year to 300 USD per year. (a 100% increase!) Relax @ Anapoima

Last December, I went to Colombia with Ana, my beautiful girlfriend, to visit her family. We spent a few days in Bogota and a few days in Anapoima, a resting place located at a much lower altitude than Bogota and with warmer weather. The climate during our visit was extraordinary. Great sun, beautiful sky, fantastic clouds.

In this place we stayed at a Club were you can rent lodges that are simple and comfortable, all with great views of the nature. To relax they also offer a couple of open-air jacuzzi with nice views of the green hills.

In the jacuzzi we share anecdotes with her family, drank spirituous elixirs and laugh.

Mexico's Venice

Not long time ago, Cuco, Cata, Ranu, Ana and Fosh, spent a weekend in Guanajuato, Mexico's Venice. We enjoyed of a couple of great days travelling around the city that used to be a source of gold, silver and other precious metals and jewels.

From there, we went also to San Miguel de Allende, another beautiful city of Mexico, my amazing country.

In the picture we have the contemplatives and the photographer from the perspective of another photographer.

Christmas in Madrid

In 2005, I went to London to study a Masters in Operational Research at the London School of Economics. We had a winter break of one-month duration. I spent most of that time traveling around Spain, my grandfather's land. I had lots of fun.

In Madrid, I spent most of my day-time sleeping and most of my night-time going out with my friend Jorge. In this picture, he is posing in the Sevilla Station of Madrid's Metro. We were going out to a friend´s place to celebrate Christmas.

Technology in Turkana

In September of 2009, I went to Kenya to visit my friend Wangari. She got married. A group of friends from school organized a trip from the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi to Lake Turkana in the north of the country. On our way there, we saw lions, elephants, giraffes, monkeys and even a nice leopard. We had fun and we really enjoyed a lifetime experience. Our guides were really nice and prepared great meals.

During our visit to Lake Turkana, we went to an island and photographed a boat they use for fishing. Under extremely difficult circumstances, they still succeed to make a living.

Lake Turkana is one of the main locations included in the thriller film The Constant Gardener.

Bike @ Rosebery Hall

In 2005, I went to London to study. During that time, I had the chance to go through, enjoy and suffer a great lifetime experience.

The best way to know the truly important things in life is to expose yourself to different situations. In that way, you are able to depict what are the positive things you have, as well as those situations that could be improved.

One of the things I liked the most during that year was riding a bike everyday, basically, anywhere around the city.

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike. Queen

Midday at the Galeria Uffizi

In 1999, I traveled around Europe with David and Omar. We had a lot of fun.
During our tour around Italy, we stopped by Firenze and met several sculptures, masterpieces of the great artists. Inspired by those magic pieces of art I decided to create one photograph with a profound meaning and sincere beauty:

"Right in the middle of the course of the sun across the sky, half of the floor in shadows, half full of light, a picture in the memory of the great artists, a moment that can't be recreated again, stays in this blog, forever"
